The Ability Enhancement Courses may be of two kinds: Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses (AECC) and Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC). These courses are based upon the content that leads to Knowledge enhancement and value based competencies and skills. These are mandatory for all disciplines and program.

The basic objective of this course is to develop scientific temper and help students understand where and how science is linked to daily life and to raise environmental consciousness among the students.
English
TheCommunicative English subject offered as an Ability enhancement Course (AEC) in I Semester aims to develop the language and communication skills of learners. The basic objective of the course is to lay a sound foundation of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing skills of English. Functional English/Advanced English subjects offered as Generic electives in II Semester aims to strengthen advanced skills in reading, writing, comprehension and also develop literary sensibility among students. This also facilitates communication skills required in the professional environment and enhances personality of the students.
Generic Electives

Generic Elective (GE) course can be chosen by the student from other branches of the faculty of Home Science, with an intention to seek exposure and Knowledge beyond the specialization of their choice. These Electives Course can enhance their personal and professional development. Each student has to take one course from the Generic Elective courses offered from the other departments.
